Optional movements are available in some tests and will be scored accordingly. Only correctly executed optional movements will gain a score. There will be no penalties for incorrectly executed movements.
FORMAT Each horse/rider combination will be asked to perform a NEXGEN Dressage test for the relevant age group. Arena: 20m x 60m for both qualifiers and championship. The championship arena will include high boards, flowers and advertising. Judges: Qualifier: 1 x BD List 1 Judge. Championship: 1 x BD List 1 judge & 1 x International Grand Prix rider.
COMPETITION For any rules not specifically mentioned below please refer to the BD rule book. Dress and tack for 4 ,5 and 6-year olds: the same as for BD Novice classes. Snaffles only. Dress and tack for 7-year olds: the same as for BD Advanced classes. Snaffles and double bridles allowed. Tailcoats are preferable. 4 & 5yr dressage tests may be ridden in sitting or rising trot. Open to horses and ponies - Min height 138cm. Callers are allowed in the qualifiers. No callers at the championship. Whips are allowed at all levels for qualifiers. Whips allowed only for 4-year olds at the championships. Same test to be ridden at qualifiers and championship. A bridle number must be clearly displayed to both sides of the horse. Stallion discs mandatory for stallions. No boots or bandages are allowed in the competition arena. No Martingales or any other training aids are allowed. Breastplates are allowed for each age group in the competition arena. Neckstraps may be worn in the warm-up. Neckstraps are allowed for 4-year olds only in the competition arena. Spurs: please refer to the BD rule book for ‘Young Horse Tests’ A horse that leaves the arena may be disqualified at the discretion of the judge. Arena walks may be available at the championship only and in line with up to date Covid 19rules. Horse must be ridden in walk and may not be lead.
GENERAL Times will be available on www.nexgenhorses.com Times must be strictly adhered to and competitors must compete in drawn order. Failure to show up on your time may result in elimination. For entry amendments and timing requests please email entries@nexgenhorses.com. Classes will run strictly to time allocation order. All marking is at the judges discretion. No appeals. Results will be posted online at www.nexgenhorses.com and the Equipe website. Rosettes will be given to places 1-3 at qualifiers. Rosettes will be given to places 1-6 at the Final. Place 1-3 at the Championships will be required for mounted prize giving. Prize money will be sent on via online bank transfer.

QUALIFYING The number of people qualifying for the final will depend on starters for each age class. The qualifying ratio is 1 in 5 combinations. Horses that achieve a score of 9.0 and above will gain qualification even if they are not in the qualifying ratio. ALL finalists must be the same horse and rider combination as they were when qualifying. There will be no substitute of horse or rider allowed for the Finals. In exceptional mitigating circumstance ie; injury of original rider, substitutions may be considered by the organisers at their discretion. Wild cards to the final may be awarded to high scoring combinations.

The Breeder of the highest placed British Bred horse in each class at the Finals wins a free covering to one of the Stallions at Caunton Manor Stud. This must be claimed by the Breeder using the Prize Money Claim Form on the website. This prize is only available for 2023. All British bred finalist qualify for The Equine Bridge. HOUSE KEEPING Please clean up after your horse and do not leave any droppings in the lorry park or stable areas. It is private property and we expect it to be left in the condition it was found. Fines will be issued to anyone not complying without exception. No dogs allowed on the Hickstead Showground.

ENTRY, PAYMENT & REFUND POLICY Entries must be paid in full at the time they are made through the online.equipe.com entry system. For entry amendments and timing requests please email entries@nexgenhorses.com. Prize money must be claimed by using the Prize Money Claim Form on the website. Prize money must be claimed within 14 days of the event you competed at. Failure to do so will result in your prize money being withheld and donated to charity. If you withdraw your entry BEFORE the closing date of entries, the entry fee will only be refunded (less a £10 admin fee). If you withdraw your entry AFTER the closing date of entries you will not be refunded. If the event is abandoned more than 7 days before competition, for any reason, 50% of your entry fee will be refunded. If the event is abandoned within 7 days of the competition date, no entry fees will be refunded. Late entries will be accepted, space permitting and are subject to an additional £10 admin fee.
PASSPORTS All horses must be vaccinated within 6 months of the competition date. Breeding details must be recorded in the horse's passport or breed papers. These are to be submitted before arrival via email. Failure to provide verified breeding may result in disqualification.
