FORMAT For the 4 & 5yr old Qualifiers A series of movements to showcase your horses movement for suitability for the dressage phase of eventing. All movements are approximate, you will be not judged on your accuracy. Time limit of 2.30mins. A discretionary bell will be sounded for exceeding the time in the dressage, indicating that you must move onto the jumping phase. You will not be penalised as an error, however it may affect your marks. There are 7-8 show jumps including a double combination, followed immediately by 6-8 Cross Country fences for the 4 year olds and 7-8 fences for the 5 year olds 2 penalties will be deducted for a fence down, 3 penalties deducted for a run out or refusal. You will NOT be timed for the SJ or XC Phases. Fence Heights: Max 90cm for 4yr olds | Max 1.00m for 5yr olds
For the 4 & 5yr old Championship Dressage phase as the qualifiers. Showjumping 8-10 fences The Cross Country will be marginally longer incorporating a water complex, ditch and steps. For the 6yr old Championship Any 6yr old horse that has completed two BE novice clear rounds XC is eligible to enter the 6yr old Championship at Hickstead directly. Horses are to be judged on their paces, jumping ability, balance fluency, and perspective as a future Champion. A series of movements to showcase your horses movement for suitability for the dressage phase of eventing. Showjumping 8-10 fences, the Cross country will incorporate 10 - 15 fences including water, ditch & steps over an optimum time. Scoring as per 5yr old championship, except there will be a timed section. Fence Heights: Max:1.15m (SJ), Max:1.10m (XC)
For the 7yr oldsChampionship Any 7yr old horse that has completed one BE Intermediate clear round is eligible to enter the 7yr old Championship at Hickstead directly. Horses are to be judged on their paces, jumping ability, balance fluency, and perspective as a future Champion. Dressage: Nexgen Eventing 7year old test. Arena 20m x 60m. To be ridden at least one hour before the Jumping phases. Show jumping 8-10 fences then immediately into the Cross-country phase which will incorporate 10 - 15 fences including water, ditch & steps Fence Heights: Max:1.25m (SJ), Max:1.20m (XC) Scoring Dressage: Marks will be given for walk, trot , canter, ride-ability, technical execution and general impression. The NEXGEN 7yr old eventing dressage test will include optional movements which will gain additional marks if executed correctly, please refer to the test sheet for more information. Show jumping: 2 penalties will be deducted for a fence down, 3 penalties deducted for a run out or refusal. XC: 3 penalties deducted for a run out or refusal. Time penalties and speed: 0.2 penalties awarded for every second over the optimum time in the cross country only. There will also be a Type and Suitability mark out of 10 added to the score at the end.

COMPETITION The whole of the competition will take place on a surface in an arena. The 4 & 5 yr olds must be ridden in a snaffle bridle only. For 6yr and 7yr olds all bits/bridles must comply with British Eventing rules. Running martingale only. Front boots are permitted. NO hind boots or bandages of any kind may be worn in the 4 and 5yr old classes. Hind boots are permitted for 6 & 7yr olds to comply with BS and BE rules. Jumping whip only allowed (max length 75cm). Number discs must be clearly displayed on both sides of the horse. Stallion discs must be worn. Riders to wear Cross Country dress for the entire competition. Competition jacket or tailcoat compulsory for the 7-year old Dressage phase. For any other rules not specifically mentioned above please refer to the BE rulebook. British Eventing approved hat and body protector only. Any falls in the ring will result in automatic elimination. Three refusals may result in compulsory retirement at the discretion of the judge. Should there be an equality of points, the combination who has the higher jumping mark will be placed highest. In the event of a tie of placing, the placing will be allocated according to the highest mark in the following order: 1. XC. 2. SJ. 3. Suitability and type. 4. Ride-ability.
GENERAL Times will be available on www.nexgenhorses.com Times must be strictly adhered to and competitors must compete in drawn order. Failure to show up on your time may result in elimination. Classes will run strictly to time allocation order. All marking is at the judges discretion. No appeals. No prize giving at the qualifiers will take place, results will be posted online at www.nexgenhorses.com Rosettes will be given to places 1-6 (Covid 19 Permitted). Place 1-3 at the Championships will be required for mounted prize giving (Covid 19 Permitted). Prize money will be sent on via online bank transfer.

The number of people qualifying for the final will depend on entries for each age class. The qualifying ratio is 1 in 5 combinations. Combinations must score a minimum of 7.0 to qualify for the final. NEXGEN reserves the right to distribute wildcards at their discretion. ALL finalists must be the same horse and rider combination as they were when qualifying. There will be no substitute of horse or rider allowed for the Finals. In exceptional mitigating circumstance ie; injury of original rider, substitutions may be considered by the organisers at their discretion. Please clean up after your horse and do not leave any droppings in the lorry park or stable areas. It is private property and we expect it to be left in the condition it was found. Fines will be issued to anyone not complying without exception. No dogs allowed on the Hickstead Showground. At the Final we will be offering various prizes Breeder of the British Bred Horse, as well as the owner of the best mare. All British bred finalist qualify for The Equine Bridge. PRIZES All prize money is listed on the NEXGEN website and will be paid via online bank transfer after each show. Please ensure we have your correct bank details via Equipe or emailed to us within 14 days of the event. Failure to do so will result in your Prize money being withheld.
PAYMENT & REFUND POLICY Entries must be paid in full at the time they are made through the online.equipe.com entry system. If you withdraw your entry, the entry fee can only be refunded (less a £5 admin fee) if we can replace your entry. If the event is abandoned more than 7 days before competition, for any reason, 50% of your entry fee will be refunded. If the event is abandoned within 7 days of the competition date, no entry fees will be refunded. Late entries will be accepted, space permitting and are subject to an additional £5 admin fee.
PASSPORTS All horses must be vaccinated within 6 months of the competition date. Breeding details must be recorded in the horse's passport or breed papers. These are to be submitted before arrival via email. Failure to provide verified breeding may result in disqualification.
COVID 19 INFORMATION
IMPORTANT - Anyone, including riders, grooms, officials and volunteers that are displaying symptoms of COVID-19 or have been in contact with anyone displaying symptoms in the last fourteen days MUST NOT attend any show. If you have not filled in a Track & Trace form prior to arriving, you will be required to complete Track & Trace details upon arrival. Face masks are to be worn in and around the stable area or any other parts of the premises where close contact cannot be avoided. Face masks to be worn by anyone standing in the warm up arenas.

A Track & Trace form will be sent to you with the qualifying email and must be filled in and returned prior to arriving at the final If you fail to return a filled in Track and Trace form before the final, you will be asked to complete Track & Trace details upon arrival which may result in a delay at the entrance. Face masks are to be worn in and around the stable area or any other parts of the premises where social distancing is difficult to maintain. Riders may be accompanied by one other person/groom, and one additional person for every additional horse entered. One owner per horse is permitted, unless arriving as a family from the same household or bubble. A parking attendant will allocate a parking pitch. All tacking up and preparation of horses must take place within your designated parking areas. Only visit the secretary if absolutely necessary - all information will be sent in your rider pack via email. If you do need to visit the secretary please adhere to the social distancing regulations. If it is a simple question please send a Whatsapp message or ask at the stable manager's office. Hand sanitiser will be available at key contact points. Catering will be available for takeaway service at most venues. Toilets will have enhanced/hand sanitiser/soap. Please only visit the secretary office only if absolutely necessary, all information will be sent via email pack. Warm up fences will be managed in accordance with each venue's Covid19 policies. Face masks to be worn by anyone standing in the warm up arenas.
It is essential that the government guidelines during the COVID-19 pandemic regarding social distancing are strictly adhered to for the successful continuation of equestrian sports. Anyone found not adhering to these guidelines may be asked to leave any of the sites.
