FORMAT For the 4 & 5yr old Qualifiers A series of movements to showcase your horses movement for suitability for the dressage phase of eventing. All movements are approximate, you will be not judged on your accuracy. Maximum time limit of 2.30 mins. Once the judges have concluded their dressage assessment they will ring the bell again to indicate that you must move onto the jumping phase. You will not be penalised as an error however it may affect your marks. There are 7-8 show jumps including a double combination, followed immediately by 6-8 Cross Country fences for the 4 year olds and 7-8 fences for the 5 year olds 2 penalties will be deducted for a fence down, 2 penalties deducted for a run out or refusal. Any corrected error of course will result in 5 penalties. Any error of course not corrected will result in elimination, however the judges may continue to score the round for the benefit of the rider and owner(s). You will NOT be timed for the SJ or XC Phases. Fence Heights: Max 90cm for 4yr olds | Max 1.00m for 5yr olds
For the 4 & 5yr old Championship Dressage phase as the qualifiers. Showjumping 8-10 fences The Cross Country will be marginally longer incorporating a water complex, ditch and steps. You will not be timed for SJ or XC phases. 2 penalties will be deducted for a refusal or fence down. For the 6yr old Championship Any 6yr old horse that has completed two BE novice clear rounds XC (or country/FEI equivalent) is eligible to enter the 6yr old Championship at Hickstead directly. Horses are to be judged on their paces, jumping ability, balance fluency, and perspective as a future Champion. Dressage: NEXGEN Eventing 6 year old test. Arena 20m x 60m. To be ridden at least one hour before the Jumping phases. Show jumping/XC: 8-10 fences then immediately into the Cross-country phase which will incorporate 10 - 14 fences including water, ditch & steps Fence Heights: Max:1.15m (SJ), Max:1.10m (XC)
Scoring for; Dressage: Marks will be given for walk, trot , canter, ride-ability, technical execution and general impression. The NEXGEN 6yr old eventing dressage test will include optional movements which will gain additional marks if executed correctly, please refer to the test sheet for more information. Show jumping: 2 penalties will be deducted for a fence down, 2 penalties deducted for a run out or refusal. XC: 2 penalties deducted for a run out or refusal. Any corrected error of course will result in 5 penalties. Time penalties and speed: 0.2 penalties awarded for every second over the optimum time in the cross country only. There will also be a Type and Suitability mark out of 10 added to the score at the end.

COMPETITION The 4 & 5 yr olds must be ridden in a snaffle bridle only. For 6yr olds all bits/bridles must comply with British Eventing rules. Running martingale only. Front boots are permitted. NO hind boots or bandages of any kind may be worn in the 4 and 5yr old classes. Hind boots are permitted for 6 olds to comply with BS and BE rules. Jumping whip only allowed (max length 75cm). Number discs must be clearly displayed on both sides of the horse. Stallion discs must be worn. Riders to wear Cross Country dress for the entire competition. For any other rules not specifically mentioned above please refer to the BE rulebook. British Eventing approved hat and body protector only. Any falls in the ring will result in automatic elimination. Three refusals may result in compulsory retirement at the discretion of the judge. Should there be an equality of points, the combination who has the higher jumping marks across country will be placed highest. In the event of a tie of placing in that phase, the placing will be allocated according to the highest marks in the following order: 1. XC. 2. Suitability and type. 3. SJ 4. Paces
GENERAL Times will be available on www.nexgenhorses.com Times must be strictly adhered to and competitors must compete in drawn order. Failure to show up on your time may result in elimination. For entry amendments and timing requests please email entries@nexgenhorses.com. Classes will run strictly to time allocation order. All marking is at the judges discretion. No appeals. Any judges must declare any conflict of interest with any entries in qualifiers or the Finals. Should there be there be a conflict with an entry, then that entry may only compete HC. Results will be posted online at www.nexgenhorses.com and the Equipe website. Rosettes will be given to places 1-6. Place 1-3 at the Championships will be required for mounted prize giving. Prize money will be sent on via online bank transfer.

QUALIFYING The number of people qualifying for the final will depend on starters for each age class. The qualifying ratio is 1 in 5 combinations. Combinations must score a minimum of 7.0 to qualify for the final. ALL finalists must be the same horse and rider combination as they were when qualifying. There will be no substitute of horse or rider allowed for the Finals. In exceptional mitigating circumstance ie; injury of original rider, substitutions may be considered by the organisers at their discretion. Wild cards to the final may be awarded to high scoring combinations.

The Breeder of the highest placed British Bred horse in each class at the Finals wins a free covering to one of the Stallions at Caunton Manor Stud. This must be claimed by the Breeder using the Prize Money Claim Form on the website. This prize is only available for 2023. All British bred finalist qualify for The Equine Bridge. HOUSE KEEPING Please clean up after your horse and do not leave any droppings in the lorry park or stable areas. It is private property and we expect it to be left in the condition it was found. Fines will be issued to anyone not complying without exception. No dogs allowed on the Hickstead Showground.
PRIZES All prize money is listed on the NEXGEN website which will only be paid via online bank transfer after each show upon completion of a claim form. ENTRY, PAYMENT & REFUND POLICY Entries must be paid in full at the time they are made through the online.equipe.com entry system. For entry amendments and timing requests please email entries@nexgenhorses.com. Prize money must be claimed by using the Prize Money Claim Form on the website. Prize money must be claimed within 14 days of the event you competed at. Failure to do so will result in your prize money being withheld and donated to charity. If you withdraw your entry BEFORE the closing date of entries, the entry fee will only be refunded (less a £10 admin fee). If you withdraw your entry AFTER the closing date of entries you will not be refunded. If the event is abandoned more than 7 days before competition, for any reason, 50% of your entry fee will be refunded. If the event is abandoned within 7 days of the competition date, no entry fees will be refunded. Late entries will be accepted, space permitting and are subject to an additional £10 admin fee.
PASSPORTS All horses must be vaccinated within 6 months of the competition date. Breeding details must be recorded in the horse's passport or breed papers. These are to be submitted before arrival via email. Failure to provide verified breeding may result in disqualification.
